Biography
Shibe Alawiye has been working in film production and broadcast for over seven years and began his career running at VTR Soho and Crow TV. Then became an edit assistant on programmes such as Cash In The Attic, Gameville, This Morning and the Paul O Grady Show.
During 2005 Shibe created his own production company Camerashai, editing films, documentaries and promos for the likes of, Make Poverty History, Gap, Nike and Adidas. At the same time he also directed music video's for independent UK artists such as Pyrelli, Doom Man and Triggs Vega. Shibe also ended up becoming the head editor for the controversial independent feature film Camp X Ray directed by Manish Patel. (Triads Yardies and Onion Bhajees and Cash N Curry).
In the summer of 2006 Shibe co directed and edited the short and gritty film "Out Fate", which won the Best Newcomer Award at the Portobello Film Festival and also featured at Psychosis an exhibition about mental health, which Shibe was a part of setting up.
His experience in editing field ranges from, live on location editing for the BBC at events such as Glastonbury and Bestival (Isle of Wright) to edit supervisor for the GCBT Awards 2007, involving the likes of EON Productions, Technicolor and featured Roger Moore, Uri Gellar and Nina Nanner.
Recently was a edit supervisor for the feature a length documentary "Routes To Roots (2009)", a story about a group of UK music artists such as: Bashy, Akala and Kele La Roc are taken to Mali (Africa) to collaborate with musicians from that region to produce an album, soon to be shown on Channel 4.
At present Shibe's attention are now to producing and is one the producers and main editor for the British Film Industry documentary "Makers". A film that looks at what makes the independent film industry so unique. Where different aspects of a filmmaker's journey are investigated, highlighting their personal and work experiences, extracts of the film were screened at the UK Pavilion in Cannes and is likely to have it's international premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
Also has created and produced "Vibes". A show that is dedicated to the underground music and arts scene within the UK, but the show has a few twists and turns for its audience, featuring names such as Normski, Jonzi D, as well as international artists Yarah Bravo and Illa J.
Shibe is now part of a brand new film production company Sence Films, who also have a feature length production in the works.
